Darren Lyons Group is writing and rehearsing for a new double CD (one disc studio, one disc live recording). The band at this time is Eric Wollman (guitar) and Jim Donica (electric bass). The group will also have a keyboard player TBA. Manolo Badrena will guest on a few cuts and Joe Ferla will record and mix.

Darren Lyons Trio has recorded a new CD entitled "3 Trios". It will feature 3 pianists -- Jeremy Manasia, Carlton Holmes, and Lou Rainone -- along with Paul Beaudry on bass for all tracks. The CD was mixed by Joe Ferla and mastered my Mark Wilder, release is scheduled for late July.

Darren recently finished co-production and drumming duties on singer/songwriter Kramer Daniels second CD, "Sleepover". Continuing with the same lineup from "Digital Sushi", Dominic Miller-guitar (Sting, Pretenders), Tony Trischka, Jeff Andrews (Michael Brecker, Steps Ahead), Skip Ward (Phoebe Snow, Bela Fleck, DLG) and Manolo Badrena (Weather Report, Ahmad Jamal). The cd was mixed by Joe Ferla at Avatar NYC and mastered by Greg Calbi. Darren completed drumming and production on Kramer Daniels' "Digital Sushi" and the CD is now available at kramerdaniels.com.

Darren has started a new duo project with Manolo Badrena called Armed and Dangerous. A CD is planned with limited performances.

Singer Rachel Panay has formed a new trio backing her. It consists of Darren on drums, Paul Beaudry on bass and Carlton Holmes on piano. This line-up has recorded and her website can be seen here.

Darren was participating at IAJE this year in NYC. At the Peter Erskine clinic on 1/13/07, Darren was asked to join his old teacher on stage for a demonstration on Peter's concepts of "Time Awareness". Darren shared the stage with Peter and legendary bassist Rufus Reid. See the photo's

The Darren Lyons Group new cd "Evil Genius", produced by David Sancious. Manolo Badrena (Weather Report, Joni Mitchell, Eyewitness) plays percussion on 4 cuts. The packaging is fantastic and award winning engineer Lawrence Manchester was a blast to work with.

"Evil Genius" was mixed at the breath-taking Bi-Coastal Studios, NY. Mastering was completed at The Lodge, NYC by Emily Lazar.

A new Artt Frank drum book availible at Schaffner Press. The book features comments on Artt's legendary be-bop drumming by Darren along with Terrie Lynn Carrington and Dave Brubeck. Visit the press page for a look.
